Do you have enough toilet paper to last the coronavirus lockdown? Find out here

accreditation

While Parent24 doesn't condone stockpiling toilet paper, as parents we all know how much TP is used in our homes (too much, it's always too much).

So while the threat of Covid-19 looms large in our lives, the fear of running out of that essential may drive some of us to panic at the thought.

Especially with schools closed and the nationwide lockdown announcement.

This follows after President Cyril Ramaphosa announced a nationwide lockdown to contain the spread of the coronavirus.

Ramaphosa says everything will be closed from 26 March to 17 April, except:

  • Banks;
  • Pharmacies;
  • Healthcare providers
  • Necessary financial and payment services;
  • Supermarkets;
  • Petrol stations;
  • Laboratories.

So you'll be able to head out and restock as normal, when necessary, but it's really just safer to stay at home.

But, thanks to this handy tool called How much toilet paper? (see below), you'll be able to calculate just how long you'll last before you'll have to resort to... alternatives.

How it works

Just enter how many rolls you have, and how many times you visit the loo, and the tool will calculate how many days you have left.

If you want to be precise, you can add the average number of wipes per trip, how many days you'll be at home for, and even how many sheets you use per wipe.

Here's an example:

For a family of 4 - two adults, a pre-schooler and potty training toddler - I've entered five bathroom visits each per day.

With just ten rolls left, the tool assures me that we will last 20 days, or 143% of our (potential) quarantine.
