Cheesy squares

You'll need:

  • 1  Onion, chopped 
  • 15ml (1tbsp)  Butter 
  • 150g  Spinach leaves, washed and torn 
  • 1 cup  Cheddar Cheese, grated 
  • 180ml (¾ cup)  Milk
  • 6  Eggs 


  1. Preheat oven to 200°C. Line a 20cm cake tin with silicone or parchment paper. 
  2. In a large saucepan, fry the onion in the butter for a few minutes until golden brown.
  3. Add the spinach, turn down the heat and put a lid on the saucepan. Let the spinach steam for 5 minutes (no water needed). Take off the heat and let cool. 
  4. In the meantime, beat the eggs and milk together. 
  5. Stir the spinach mixture and cheese into the egg mixture. Pour into the prepared cake tin and bake for 20-30 minutes till set and browned on top.
  6. Take the tin out of the oven, leave to cool, then turn out onto a board and cut into squares.
