With less than a week to go you’ll probably be spending the weekend getting together the kids’ outfits, cleaning up the house for family visits and stocking up on groceries for Eid breakfast, lunch and supper. Which is all good and well until you realise you still have to go home and prepare all those meals, not to mention all the treats, for the visitors.
But that’s where we come in!
We’ve asked a few moms to share their recipes with us and put together a little video of our own to give you an idea of what to do with all those leftover dates.
Check out the recipes below.
Bashiera Parker’s chocolate date balls
Ingredients
- 350g medjool dates
- 60g chopped walnuts
- 4 tbsp cocoa
Method
- De-pit dates and put them in a food processor along with your chopped walnuts and cocoa.
- Blend until you have a fine, crumbly mixture.
- Press and roll a teaspoon full of mixture in your hands to make a ball. Tip: Making sure your hands are warm will ensure the mixture comes together and compresses nicely.
- Coat your date ball in an ingredient of your choice. We’d suggest finely chopped nuts, coconut or even chocolate and sprinkles!
