Recently Parent24 shared an article on a stay at home mom's (SAHM) Facebook post that went viral.

In the post mom Bridgette Anne wrote about her experience as a SAHM, detailing how hard it is and urging people to check up on their SAHM friends.

So many of our readers responded, via email, social media and WhatsApp, with their comments and experiences. While some thought staying at home was tougher, others said being a working mom is harder. And single moms also had plenty to say.

In conclusion though, everyone agreed: Just being a mom is the hardest job!

Staying at home is a lonely journey

Those who are able to stay at home shared that it is extremely difficult to be a SAHM, admitting that often it is very lonely because there are hardly any adult conversations, and sometimes no friends or family.

However, they also shared that being with their kids makes them happy and generally feels worth it.

Felicia, a SAHM shared with us, "Being a SAHM is extremely difficult. It is a lonely journey. However, at the end of each day when I see my daughter smiling and happy it warms my heart and makes it all worth it."

Many SAHM said finding balance is important. With balance comes finding a good supporter structure and people you can always count on.

If it is necessary and can be afforded, one mom even encouraged SAHMs to go to therapy, because it will help them cope and remind them that they are also human.

Working moms clapped back

Working mothers also shared their thoughts and experiences, saying that it is just as hard for them.

One working parent, told us, "Being a working mom is just as hard. Especially if you are a school teacher as well. Dealing with 35 plus little children all day long. Then still having to have the strength and patience for your own children when you get home. I think being a mom is tough... Either way... But we wouldn't change it for the world."

Penny, a working mom agreed, explaining "Even the ones that work every day are not okay either. I am not okay. Strength to you SAHM. A lot of times I feel like going away just t hear myself think and to take care of myself. It is tough being a mommy."
