Stuck in OR Tambo?
There’s nothing worse than being stuck in an airport... with kids.
Being stuck in an airport must be one the most annoying and horrible things in life. Now add a couple of noisy, ever energetic kids to the mix and you’ve got extra trouble!

Airports are not generally teeming with things children love to do. Unfortunately, if you find yourself in OR Tambo International airport this holiday season, this is what you’ll be faced with.

Here's how you can be a little creative when needing to keep the kids busy. Hopefully these 5 lateral thoughts will help spare your ears from the dreaded ‘Mooooom, we’re boooooored!’

1. Get a massage!
The airport has a Letsema Xpress Spa in it which offers fully clothed massages and loads of pampering. If your kids have never gotten a massage, it would be a great experience. There are also dry massage machines which are sure to have your kids ever so curious. And hey! Why not stop and be pampered yourself too?

2. Socks required
Have you ever almost taken a dive walking on those super slippery tiles? Are you and your kids sitting around with nothing to do? Why not let the kids take their shoes off and have a few sock sliding races! Mountains of fun and will make for loads of great photo opportunities.  Oh, and remember, you’re never too old to slide around in your socks – get in on the fun!

3. Take a walk...
...on the wild side! Not just any kind of walk. Find a strip of walking belt (please, not the conveyor belt you put your luggage on) and see how long the kids can walk in the opposite direction. It’s safe, what with those walking belts being so slow and all, but be sure to keep an eye on the kids all the same.

4. Shoe shine time
What could be more fun than having your shoes shined? For kids it’s quite an experience and a memory they’ll get to keep and share with their friends.

5. Take in the view
An amazing view is not something that only adults can appreciate. Take the kids up to the viewing deck and let them play some games. Plane bingo? Spot 2 Mango airplanes, 1 SAA and 1 British Airways plane and you get a prize! Or just make them up as you go along.

What would you do with your children to keep them entertained in an airport?
