Famous parents David and Victoria Beckham have hinted that they're keen on getting pregnant in the UK during the 2012 Olympics for a number of reasons, according to the Daily Star. Their four existing kids were all conceived in other countries, and now they are aiming for a "Made in Britain" kid. Since they're both British, it's not hard to see why they'd love to conceive on home turf. The Beckhams have also been known to be quite superstitious- a source has said that ''Victoria is really into symbolism, and she can't help but notice there are five rings in the Olympic logo and, of course, there were five members of the Spice Girls.'' Whether it's superstition, patriotism, nostaligia or even for visas, there are many couples who consult an atlas before consulting a gynaecologist.

Countries of origin may have strong emotional significance for individuals. For example, if a couple have emigrated, they may choose to return to their country of birth to give their baby the same origin. Perhaps they have a favourite holiday destination which is the seat of many happy memories, so they choose a particular coastal town to do some baby-making.

Another reason for conception (and giving birth) in a particular country could be the desire to carry a passport with all of the benefits of that particular nationality, or to gain access to residence permits or visas.
It might not be enough just to give the baby a name with connections to the country of origin- as strange as it may sound to those who aren't fussed about the 'where' (as long as it's comfortable)- for some people, the significance of the place where baby is conceived is almost as important as choosing a name, or opting for a specific birth plan.
