The older you get the more pressure there is for finding a husband so that you can have a baby. Women start hearing that dreaded clock tick tocking and start panicking. Planning to have a baby can be stressful, but here are some pros and cons:

  • Benefits: You will have tons of energy, so all the demands of babies and toddlers aren't really overwhelming. Physically and psychologically you are a prime candidate. Your bones and muscles are strong.
  • Drawbacks: Finances could be an issue. Your career will take a bit of a backseat but planning for a baby is the best way to deal with this situation. Most people in their 20 are still childless, so your friends might be in a different lifestage.
  • Benefits: You have had freedom and may be more willing to settle down now. You will be more focused on your family life as you might have focused on your career throughout your 20s and early 30s. Spending time with your partner makes you more settled in your marriage. You are also more mature and sure of yourself. Women in their 30s are more secure about their bodies.
  • Drawbacks: Fertility decreases by the mid-30s. Pregnancy is harder on your body. After the age of 35 complications in pregnancy are increased. There's a greater chance of genetic defects -- especially Down syndrome. There is also an increased risk of pregnancy-related conditions like gestational diabetes/high blood pressure.
  • Benefits: In your 40s, you are probably more financially stable. Studies show that children of older parents have more advantages in terms of parental readiness. You will also have more available time to spend with their children. You have the confidence and ability to multi-task and prioritize a career, baby, marriage and life in general.
  • Drawbacks: A few drawbacks are changes in your metabolism, more difficulty controlling weight gain and you may feel more fatigued than women who get pregnant at a younger age Having a second child takes a lot of consideration. You could feel a bit out of sync with other moms. In your 40s, fertilization is at its lowest point and the risk of chromosomal abnormalities and miscarriage is at its highest. But many women after age 40 get pregnant and deliver healthy babies.
