Some people insist that the best contraceptive is having kids, but we’re not that cynical! As parents, we know that birth control isn’t just for the child-free. If you’re waiting before trying to have another child, or, as many say, your baby factory is closed for business, then you’ll more than likely be exploring birth control options.
The good news is that a recent innovation is soon to revolutionise birth control: It’s a procedure performed on men which is said by Techcitement to be 100%.
A million exploding sperms!
At first, the RISUG procedure sounds bizarre: Reversible Inhibition of Sperm Under Guidance involves injecting a polymer gel into the vas deferens of the penis. The chemicals in the gel combine to form a polymer which hardens over 72 hours. The polymer is designed NOT to block the tubes, though, and sperm is still able to pass through. Here’s the WOW! part: Because of the polymer’s pattern of negative/positive polarization, the sperm are torn apart through the polyelectrolytic effect, which would resemble an implosion if it was magnified. Kapow!
The simple injection is cheap- the syringe is said to be more expensive than the contents, and the almost-painless treatment is durable, lasting for ten years. No more latex, pill boxes or risky withdrawal methods.
Easily reversible, too!
If at some point during the period you decide you want to have a baby, another simple injection of water and baking soda flushes out the gel, and within 2 to 3 months you can attempt to conceive again. The treatment is already available in India, with clinical trials taking place in other countries.
So, if you don’t trust your memory to keep up with a daily pill after you’ve had a baby, or you’d like to make sure that the baby factory doesn’t go into action again, it may be worth considering this option, as soon as it’s available.
What would make you choose this treatment?
