"Men should have the ability to control their own fertility": Readers respond to birth control pills for men

accreditation

If you haven't already, check out the article on Birth control pills for men to see what it's all about.

Some thought-provoking stuff right there!

Here are some of the insightful, objecting and downright funny letters we received:

Men speak out

"As a young adult I think it's not a bad idea to have us too to take the responsibility. Times have changed, we often leave our partners to look after our children alone due to not wanting to take responsibility, hence this Pill could be a solution to two individuals with one understanding of we are lovers not baby makers. If it's not yet time we take a pause by all the objects given to us. I still say I wouldn't have a problem taking it."- Excellent

"To be honest I’d rather take a pill than go for a vasectomy." - Anonymous

"I'm delighted with this new development as it means I can finally have my destiny in my own hands. My girlfriend says that condoms give her skin irritation while pills and injection also have adverse side effects on her. [...] I have two babies whom I love of course and happy to have them but I can not afford to have number three. She loves kids and I suspect she held on to me on purpose and she has hinted at wanting a third child. With the pill I can finally be able to enjoy intercourse without the fear of pregnancy." - Anonymous

"I would consider the male contraceptive pill, I truly support the initiative." - Mdu

Thrill for the pill

On Facebook we enjoyed a big response. Here are some of the opinions:

The tea is scalding hot!

Equality!

Calling out the double standards.

Interesting...

The not-so-happy lot

A reader concerned that the rate of pregnancy will increase.

Uhm, okay?

A case of liar, liar...

... Wow.

Just for laughs

LOOOOL.

Some final food for thought

Well said, Katherine.
