Molluscum contagiosum

A viral skin infection.

Symptoms:

  • Small, shiny pimples caused by a virus, and usually occuring on the trunk, face or hands.

Seriousness:

  • Take your child to a doctor within 24 hours.
  • As the name implies, it is contagious and should be treated.

Treatment:

  • Depending on how widespread the pimples are, the doctor might treat them by piercing them, or - if there are many- he might refer you to a dermatologist who will remove the pimples by scraping or freezing them off.
