Tonsilitis
Inflammation of the tonsils.
Symptoms:
- Sore inflamed throat and red swollen tonsils which can be seen on either side of the uvula at the back of the throat.
- Fever
- Difficulty swallowing and refusal to eat.
- Earache
Seriousness:
- Take your child to the doctor.
Treatment:
- Liquid paracetamol to help relieve the pain and fever.
- The doctor is likely to prescribe antibiotics.
- Keep your child at home for about three days.
- If tonsilitis occurs frequently your child may have to have the tonsils surgically removed.
