Local development agency the Kagiso Trust has partnered with the Limpopo Department of Education to provide radio lessons to Grade 12 pupils.

The initiative was launched in Limpopo where access to online resources and even television classes are lower than anywhere else in the country

According to the Kagiso Trust CEO, Mankodi Moitse, radio was identified as "the perfect platform to reach most learners."

"This is about inclusivity. It is about access to information," Moitse says.

What can pupils expect?

"Crafted lessons will be offered by expert appointed subject teachers with an excellent track record in the subject that they offer," says Limpopo Education MEC, Polly Boshielo.

The radio lessons will be hosted on Capricorn FM, Sekhukhune FM and Tubatse FM from Monday to Sunday for an hour a day.

Learners outside the province will also be able to tune in to lessons via live stream

The first 30 minutes have been set aside for teaching, and the other 30 minutes will be reserved for pupils to interact with the teacher through questions or comments.

Lessons in MST subjects such as Mathematics, Mathematical Literacy, Physical Sciences, Life Sciences and Agricultural Sciences will be broadcast live on Capricorn FM.

Pre-recorded lessons in English FAL, Sepedi HL, Accounting, Business Studies, Economics, History and Geography will be broadcast on Sekhukhune FM and Tubatse FM.

The materials will cover term 1 and 2, and each live broadcast lesson will last for an hour per day during and after the lockdown period.
