The national closure of schools and universities has had a tremendous impact on our education system.

Lessons have moved online, and this may become the new norm given the unpredictable nature of the Covid-19 epidemic.

And if finding creative and inspiring ways to keep your at-home pupil engaged during this stressful time is proving a challenge for you as a teacher or parent, help is at hand.

    The #Love2Learn campaign

UNICEF South Africa together with the international social media platform, TikTok has launched the #Love2Learn campaign; inviting pupils, parents and teachers to share their experiences with home-learning.

"We are trying to encourage continuous learning, and want to make it fun," says  UNICEF Advocate and TV personality Maps Maponyane.

The initiative kicked off in April with the hopes to encourage pupils to create a TikTok video sharing the different ways they have been making remote learning work for them.

UNICEF South Africa representative Muriel Mafico says that "providing children and young people with a voice to be heard throughout society," is a massive goal for the organisation.

Mafico says that providing a space where SA's youth feels empowered is a powerful tool for helping them "reach their full potential."
