Don't miss the 2020 Gauteng school application deadline

accreditation

Updated: The Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) has closed online applications.

Step-by-step instruction

To simplify the application process for first-time users, the department has provided video tutorials to explain each step which you can view below:

Step 1

Step 2

Step 3

Handing in required documents

Once you have completed the application successfully, you should receive an SMS or email notification informing you of your waiting list number, as well as the documents you will need to deliver to your selected school/s.

After you've registered online, parents or legal guardians still need to take the required documents to the respective school/s within a 7-day period.

What if I don't have access to the internet?

Parents who are unable to register online have been instructed to visit one of the walk-in admission centres the GDE has set up, providing a listing of the venues on their official Facebook page:

Placement feedback

The Department has advised that parents will be notified which school their child has been accepted into between 18 July to 28 September 2018 and placements will happen on a first-come-first-serve basis, with space availability the key determinant.

It's key that parents take a proactive roll and apply soonest and ensure all documentation has been submitted on time. Those who only register their children later this year or next year when the school year starts, will have to accept that their child will be placed in any school with availability, and not necessarily their school of choice.
