Despite the disruption to the school year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Department of Basic Education is working hard to find ways that could positively contribute to the academic year, especially for learners in matric.

Normally in many provinces, school holidays are used for extra classes for Grade 12 learners.

But now that everything is going to be on lockdown what will the kids do?

We asked Elijah Mhlanga, Chief Director: Media Liaison – National and Provincial Communication, of the plans that the Department has when it comes to Grade 12.

He said that "All African Language Stations at SABC and community radio stations in all provinces will broadcast lessons. KZN and EC have done their own planning but it will be a nationwide campaign to reach all parts of the country. We will make the list available soon. Just finalizing details."
