Actress and television personality Phumeza Mdabe is so proud of her son Mpilo for learning to ride a bike even though he is blind.
The proud mom shared the moment on Instagram, saying it might seem like something ordinary for parents of abled children, but for her it’s a special achievement.
“We are so proud of you Mpilo. Its a normal achievement for parents with able kids to be able to learn to ride a bike. For Mpilo, because he is blind, he needs to make sure he is safe, takes his time but his spirit amazes us everyday. Akathandi uhluleka. He knows his way around the house so he knows how much distance hes got. You would think he can see [sic],” she shared.
The former Isidingo actress’ son was diagnosed with bilateral retinoblastoma when he was just 16 months old. Both his eyeballs had to be removed to keep the cancer from spreading.
She and hubby musician Shota Mdabe have been open about their journey. The duo even took some time away from the spotlight to concentrate on their family.

“I was off-screen because I was going through some stuff with my son, who had cancer. We’re better now. The main thing is that he’s alive and I get to spend time with him every day – that’s all that matter to me,” she told to The Juice.
