This young boy has received thousands of likes on social media after he helped an elderly vendor by giving him the proceeds of his mother’s lottery ticket.

Eight-year-old Adalid Espinosa and his mother, Karen, from Uruapan, Mexico, were having dinner in a restaurant when an elderly man walked in to sell sweets.

The man, who reportedly didn’t makes any sales, sat down at a table to rest for a bit.

“He must be very tired, I guess, of walking around working the whole day,” Karen told Adalid.

The kind-hearted young boy then reportedly walked over to the man and gave him 40 Mexican pesos (around R30) which his mom had won playing the lottery.

Adalid returned to his mom but was still worried and found another 29 pesos (around R22) to give to the vendor.

The man, whose name hasn’t been reported, bought himself a taco for dinner with the money he received from the young lad.

But that wasn’t enough . . .

After watching the vendor wolf down the taco, Adalid persuaded Karen to buy the man more food, according to local media.

“He approached him and asked him how he wanted the tacos, and he ordered them with the waiter and was very concerned the tacos be brought quickly,” the proud mom wrote on social media.

“Suddenly he started to cry and I asked him why, and he told me ‘look mom, he’s having dinner so happily’.”

After sharing her son's touching act of kindness on social media, Karen’s pictures received more than 244 000 likes and 118 000 shares.

Adalid told locals he hoped to become a doctor one day and help elderly people.

He also said he’d like to see the vendor again to see how he was doing, so he was trying to track him down.
