This ICU nurse gave a boy a second chance at life after donating a part of her liver to him.

Brayden Auten from Wisconsin in the US recently started school after nearly dying from liver failure, Metro reports.

This after selfless nurse, Cami Loritz, from Milwaukee decided to donate a part of her liver to save his life.

“What she did was completely selfless and she saved his life, plain and simple,” Brayden’s father, James Auten, said.

“We can’t thank her enough. She’s a true miracle. We consider her one of us, one of our family.”

Brayden’s health issues started in April after he returned home sick from school, WBay reports.

After his parents rushed him to the hospital the next night, doctors discovered that an unknown aggressive virus was attacking the youngster’s liver.

"And then about two days later it just started going downhill and just kept going downhill.

"It was the Sunday after we got there, they finally looked at us, they're like, 'We're bypassing everything. He's going on the list tonight,'”

"Started talking liver transplant, and we just bawled our eyes out. We didn't think it was going to get that far," adds Ruth Auten, Brayden's mom.

After taking to Facebook in hopes of finding a donor for little Brayden, the hospital informed the desperate parents that they had found a match – a nurse named Cami Loritz.

“So today we had the wonderful opportunity to meet Brayden’s miracle, the angel that gave you life,” the dad announced on Facebook.

“She has given up time and went through pain to make sure that my son has a chance to walk by my side again and be able to live and thrive like a regular 7yr old boy.

“So thank you Cami Loritz I will never be able to repay the gift that you have given my son and all of us!”

After weeks of recovery, Brayden is finally home with his family, People reports.

Cami also took to Facebook to thank people for their support and prayers.

“This post comes from such a FULL heart,” Cami said.  “I cannot say thank you enough for all the kind words, genuine thoughts and intentional prayers Brayden and I have received over the last few months.

“Know that they have been whole heartedly appreciated and were our go to ‘pick me ups’ during the rough days of recovery.”
