Nonkanyiso Conco was thrust into the spotlight after news broke that she was carrying Zuma’s youngest child as a 24-year-old woman in April 2018.

Reports suggest that Zuma (77) also paid lobola for her and she’s in line to be the former president’s next wife.

The mom took to Instagram recently to share an appreciation post for their son, Sakh’muzi, who is almost two years old.

“Dear son it’s almost two years that I have met you but feels like we have met many years ago,” Nonkanyiso wrote.

“Today I want to thank you for being the reason why I need to work harder,” she wrote.”

She continued her post in Zulu.

“I get flashbacks of moments when I was all alone. The worst was when I had to prepare the celebration of his first birthday all alone.

“Unhappy and hurt because I had to do everything by myself, but what hurts me even more is the prospect of being a single parent,” she says.

She writes that some situations require the presence of the child’s father.

Nonkanyiso also revealed she gets scared thinking of all the questions her son might ask her one day and wonders what she’ll say to him.

But she’s vowed to do the best she can.

“I will work hard for him so that he has a better future than the one I had,” she promises.

“And when you get overwhelmed by anger or confusion about what you need to do to make ends meet, I remember that I’m a young single parent who has dreams I still need to achieve,” she writes in Zulu.

In all of this, she says she’s found solace.

"I have made peace that i'll attend school activities alone, travel the world with him alone and take all responsibility for raising a boy child and instilling the best values in his life," she adds.

“Grow up my firstborn, may your light keep shining.”

One of her followers responded by saying, “You’re not alone sweetheart. Motherhood is a choice you make every day to put someone else’s happiness and wellbeing ahead of your own. Nxese ntombi ooBaba bezingane yizilima (I’m sorry, girl. The fathers of the children can be stupid).”

Nonkanyiso then responded by saying thank you but was quick to say that the father of her son doesn’t fit the description.

She later told someone else that she thinks her post has been misread.

“We know that this kind of love that I’m in we have permanent visitors. The men in polygamous relationships need to attend different households.”
