These American parents have to deal with the fact that all three of their sons are battling cancer.
When Aaron and Angie Rush’s oldest son, Tristan, was diagnosed with retinoblastoma, a rare type of eye cancer, in 2015, the parents were left devastated, Kens 5 reports.
But things went from bad to worse after the pair welcomed two more boys, Caison who was born in 2017 and Carter who was born last year.
Both boys were also diagnosed with retinoblastoma, with doctors finding two tumours in Carter’s eyes.
"He has cancer, he has cancer, I have cancer. All my brothers have cancer," little Tristan, who’s almost six years old, told local media.
After the third diagnosis, the heartbroken parents consulted specialists, who revealed the cancer is hereditary.
Angie reportedly lost her left eye due to cancer when she was a toddler, People reports.
"I feel a lot of guilt. But I also know that I've been blessed," said Angie.
Aaron’s mom, Jeanne, revealed that the couple do have medical aid but had to sell their home in order to pay for the boys' treatments.
“They’ve sold their home and moved in with Angie’s parents to save money to pay for medical bills,” Jeanne said, revealing that she visits them frequently.
“They’re warriors. I go with them to the hospital many times and they get IVs [intravenous drips], they get drops in their eyes and they’re just warriors.”
Doctors have revealed that the prognosis for all three boys is good.
Six-month-old Carter recently started his first round of chemotherapy.
“The fact that he’s happy most of the time and he’s just living his life is a wonderful blessing for him and us too,” Angie said.
