An American little girl called Riley suffers from alopecia (hair loss caused by an immune disorder) and told her parents that she doesn’t love herself because she doesn’t have hair.
Her father’s reaction – posted on Facebook – warmed the hearts of everyone who witnessed the touching moment.
“Yesterday I was making jokes with Riley and naming everyone I love,” her mom, Chelsea Sylvaria – from Bristol, Rhode Island – writes on Facebook.
“ ‘I love Riley, I love her brother Grayson . . .’ Riley then looked at me and asked: ‘Do you love yourself?’
“I answered immediately: ‘Obviously. You must always love yourself. Don’t you love yourself?’ She answered softly: ‘No.’ “
That totally took the wind out of her sails, Chelsea says. “What do you mean you don’t love yourself?” she asked. To which the little girl answered: “I don’t like myself, because I don’t have hair.”
