Many parents know the process of dropping your kids off at school can be hectic!

There’s not much time for anything, especially personal care.

But this American mom thinks mothers should put more effort into their appearance for the morning drop-off.

The anonymous mom took to Facebook to lament the appearance of other mothers arriving at school in the morning.

The open letter, which was posted on the Sanctimommy Facebook page, saw the mom urging others to “try a little” and “take some pride”.

The unapologetic note begins with: "I know this is stirring up some haters so whatever. Sorry if this hits close to home.

"Ladies, even if you aren't getting out of the car at drop-off can you please try a little?

"I look around as I'm walking my daughter to the front door and all we see is rat-nest hair, no make-up, eyebags out to wherever and I'm not 100% but I think I smell morning breath coming from these cars,” wrote the mom.

According to The Sun, it seems the mom-shaming has rubbed off on her young daughter, who apparently told her mother that her “friends’ mommies all look so old”.

The mom added in her letter that if her seven-year-old can see that they aren't even trying, what are their husbands thinking.

“Take some pride."

As she may have expected, other moms didn’t take kindly to the shaming.

The post was flooded with comment form unhappy moms, with one saying: "My husband is thinking, 'Thanks, wife, for dropping the kid off at school so I don’t have to.'"

A second joked: "Some days my husband looks at me and says, 'Damn, why do you look so good today?' And I reply, 'I showered.’ Set the bar low, ladies, and it doesn’t take much to impress him."
