A beautiful maternity shoot set in a pumpkin patch quickly turned bloody when suddenly an alien popped out of the pregnant woman’s belly.

Sound gross? Yes, we think so too!

But you’ve got to hand it to Todd and Nicole Cameron for perfectly re-enacting the iconic scene from the 1979 sci-fi horror Alien.

The couple, from British Columbia in Canada, explained to POPSUGAR that they really wanted to capitalize on Nicole’s mid-October due date.

“If you’re going to do a fall Halloween-themed horror maternity shoot, what better place than a pumpkin patch?” Todd told the website.

“Luckily, there’s an awesome local pumpkin patch and corn maze that was all too helpful.”

Halloween is also a special holiday for the couple – it’s when they met five years ago, The Metro writes.

“We actually first met at Halloween. We always hand-make elaborate costumes and we go all out on Halloween decorations at our house. So this was really just a fun way to celebrate who we are while passing on a few smiles and laughs in the process.”

The maternity shoot images start like that of any other.

Nicole lovingly cradles her belly while Todd plants a kiss on her bump. But things take a turn when Nicole starts feeling cramps in her abdomen. She falls to the ground and it’s not long before a gory alien pops from her stomach, squirting blood all over the place.

Todd is then snapped chasing the alien baby as it hurries across the field.

He eventually catches up with the creature and the proud parents lovingly cuddle their infant.

Love it or hate it – the couple’s creativity was spot on.

The idea for the shoot came to Todd after he attended a garage sale.

“I found the Alien Chestburster model at a garage sale this Summer,” he tells POPSUGAR.

“As I was putting it together and painting it, the idea of this shoot came to me. I talked to Nicole, and she wasn’t keen on a regular maternity shoot, so we decided that this would be a fun way to spread some laughs.”

And photographer Li Carter, also from British Columbia, captured the couple’s vision perfectly, Daily Mail adds.

She agreed without hesitation when she heard of their idea, Todd says. “She loved it! She’s done several fun photo projects with us, and we make a great team – so she jumped at the opportunity.”

The couple are now eagerly awaiting the arrival of their little one. They want to keep the baby’s gender a surprise.

“We’ve decided to wait to find out,” Todd says before joking, “Hopefully the baby is human!”
