Call this a party?
We don't do normal parties, but we love them anyway.
Adele Hamilton, Editor Parent24 (Shawn Benjamin)
'When do we get to the party?'

The little guest was obviously bewildered. After 40 minutes of bundu bashing, we were sitting under a lapa with packets of crisps, sweets and silly hats. Where was the jumping castle? What could all this walking in bushes have to do with a birthday?

Just another weird and memorable celebration for Joel, who long ago gave up 'normal' parties.

His last birthday was a visit to a crocodile farm, the one before that we were rowing across a farm dam.

We do love a cake with candles, though, and are not at all averse to party blowers and streamers. A party is not a party without noise, sweets and mess, even under a lapa in the bush.

Since it's party season, we've collected a party pack to inform your next bash:

Be party safe

Alcohol at teen parties

How to behave when invited

So over Barbie
