...is a piece of useful advice no-one gave me.
What I did get was stuff like: "always pack extra pants for newly potty-trained children", and "always carry dried fruit for a healthy instant snack." Both are great pieces of advice, and things I NEVER did. Which is why my children ended up running around bottomless in public places eating Flings.
Advice is really easy to come by as a parent, but good advice, not so much. My Ouma used to say “A child needs only a swimming costume and a raincoat” but my own experience has taught me that children actually need neither of those. Maybe the best piece of advice is just to be the best example you can, as we all know kids are more likely to copy you than do as you say. But of course if I really want sensible advice I go straight to our Parent24 experts.
I like to think of Parent24 as a place where we shuffle together all the advice from every source, especially each other, and then we get on with what we want to do as best we can, feeling a bit less lonely.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever heard?
