My 11-year-old is feeling great after appearing in a charity fashion show.
'Well done, you were a star!' I say.
But the woman next to me is checking me skeef. 'You don't want them to get a big head, hey,' she says in a warning tone.
I wonder which one of us has got it wrong (of course I suspect it's her!) Surely praise is an important tool for parents? Not mindless, inflated praise, but sincere, honest positive feedback?
