Hello, lovely parents!
We’re experiencing something many parents have felt over
here at Parent24: that period of expectation before something big happens.
Remember the debate you may have had with your partner when you either decided
that you were ready to have a baby or you found out you were pregnant? When to
let others in on the exciting news…
There’s a joke my teen son likes:
Q: How do you keep an idiot in suspense?
A: I’ll tell you tomorrow.
Wait! I’m sorry – I am not calling you idiots, is just that
as a dad I frequently have to look for bad jokes to season my conversations
with my kids and it’s a hard habit to break when I am with adults.
Well, you’ll find out very soon what the news is; trust me, it has been hard to stay focussed in between the holidays, Mandela Day, Women’s Day (on the 9th August) and the general day-to-day mayhem we have here.
We lost Robi!
Not in the way that some of you may have left your baby
strapped into the supermarket trolley and only realised later while having your
virgin mojitos round the pool, but in a different sense. Our beloved colleague
Robyn finished up a marathon stretch of seven years at Parent24 as she heads on
to what will undoubtedly be a vibrant future in the not-so-hidden world of the
internet.
She helped to make us what we are, and we’ll miss her as she flies the Parent24 nest.
That’s one big change.
Our new intern, Caira-lee, has settled in and has already
come up with some great ideas for helping parents. She has a great sense of
humour and loads of fascinating and creative tips to share with you.
Zayaan has been keeping our ship tilting into the wind, as
well as balancing out some of our crazier ideas with her sensible approach to
parenting. Although she does have a wicked chuckle you can’t hear from where
you are.
And we have some new faces which we’ll have to introduce you
to next time (suspense, remember?).
In the meantime, have a fantastic week, and don’t forget to
keep doing life even if you’re waiting for something else to happen. As John
Lennon once sang (quoting Allen Saunders): “Life is what happens to you while
you’re busy making other plans…”
Enjoy Women’s Day, and know that we’re celebrating the
wonderful, strong, resourceful women in our lives, too.
Have a great week!
Send in snaps of the ways you’re celebrating Women’s Day to chatback@parent24.com and you may be
featured on Parent24.
