'I love being a mom, but I miss the person I was.'
I've heard lots of mothers say this or a version of it. And I've felt it myself.
Weird thing is, now that my kids are older and I have pockets of time to look for myself, I find myself changed.
I used to love movies, now I don't find them worth the money. Health issues mean I can't indulge in my not-so-secret passion for cheese anymore. For 40 years I hated exercise, these days I can't settle until I've had a walk. (I know, I sound like a labrador...)
But some bits are the same. I love to read. I love a too-hot bath. I love to undo my bra and I love to walk around barefoot.
Somewhere inside Mom, there's still... me.
