‘Mom, we’re so lucky, there are so many teams we can support!’ says my 10-year-old, shining in his lumo orange Netherlands top.
He’s right. In addition to our flag-waving South African loyalty, we have family connections to Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, Greece, France and England. We also have a strong affinity for our African brothers from Cameroon, Nigeria, Algeria, Ivory Coast and Ghana. So we’ve got a pretty good chance that one of our chosen Fifa World Cup teams will do us proud!
