We sent out a call to all South Africans to be united in song as part of our Anthem Project. Several students across the country heeded the call and brought the dream to fruition. We’re loving the submissions that have been uploaded thus far and would like to encourage more schools to join in and show their pride for our beautiful country by sharing their renditions of the national anthem.

By submitting your video, you could win a chance to donate a share of R1 million in cash and prizes to your charity of choice. These are some of the charities that have been nominated so far:

Deaf Federation of South Africa

Founded in 1929, DeafSA acts as the national research, information and community action organisation on behalf of South Africans that are culturally and linguistically Deaf, hard of hearing or Deafblind.

True North

Prompted by the desire to bring meaningful change to vulnerable and underprivileged communities, True North advocates for Early Childhood Development (ECD) and believes in setting a new standard for the education, nurture and holistic development of pre-school children and their caregivers.

Vision AfriKa

Established in 2004, Vision AfriKa supports youth in their process of personal growth and development through providing a psychosocial-support system to youth from underserved communities.

Down Syndrome Association of South Africa

A non-profit organisation providing support to people with Down Syndrome and their families. Their aim is to improve the quality of life of those living with Down Syndrome, as well as develop and refine their skills, thereby allowing them to contribute meaningfully to their communities.

We have had some stunning submissions thus far, with schools showing the country exactly what national pride looks like. Here are some of our favourite submissions thus far:

Silent Choir from Wynberg Girls’ High signing the national anthem

To celebrate Deaf Awareness Month in September, students taught by Angela Bailey lead the national anthem sung in assembly by signing together in South African Sign Language.

The kids of Full House belt it out at Green Point Park

Full House is a cottage school run from a garage. The school aims to provide underprivileged children the opportunity of an education that they are ever likely to receive. What pupils of the school as they give us their amazing rendition of Nkosi Sikelel’iAfrika.

Benoni Primary spontaneously break out in song

Watch pupils of Benoni Primary School as they sing the national anthem for a visiting student from the United States.

The Filia School Assembly sing their hearts out

Students from the Filia School for learners with special educational needs share their national pride in their Friday morning assembly.

Join in the fun and share your rendition of the national anthem in song, music or dance and show your national pride! Find out how to upload your video here.
