It’s often said that the birth of a child is a beautiful experience, but some first-time moms-to-be (and dads!) can become fearful of the unknown. A doctor or midwife may explain what’s most likely to happen during birth in order to prepare the expectant mother, but these words don’t really convey the whole experience adequately. We have put together some live birth videos for those of you who are more visual.

Natural birth
WATCH: Natural birth is birth with minimal/no anaesthetic and as few medical interventions as possible.
Caesarean section
Birth by WATCH: Caesarean section may be necessary for the health of the mother and/or baby or it may be elective, when a date is chosen on which the surgery takes place.
VBAC
Some moms who have previously given birth via C-section may choose a Vaginal Birth After Caesarean (VBAC) for a second delivery. Not all doctors will recommend this, and it may not be feasible, depending on your body and the baby.

Twins and triplets
Multiple births may be either natural or via C-section depending on the babies and the mom-to-be. WATCH: Twins and WATCH: triplets are often born early.
Water birth

Home birth
Giving WATCH: birth in the homeallows the mom-to-be to avoid the hospital atmosphere. You may be assisted by a midwife.
Breech birth
