"My birth experience was fantastic"

accreditation

My lil gal is 15 weeks old. My birth experience was fantastic. Had a normal vaginal delivery. Woke up on a monday morning, went to the bathroom , only to find blood on my underwear so I thought labour must be starting now. I then prepared myself, called my fiance who was in pretoria and I was in venda, booked to deliver at a hospital in polokwane i.e almost 200km away from where I was.

Called my gynae who said he will meet me at the hospital. I drove myself with mild pains, arrived safe at the hospital, checked in and the doctor came around 12 midday. When he checked me he said im 1cm dilated, so he gave me medications to make my contractions to be stronger, oh boy that's  when things started, pains where becoming stronger and stronger. Was suppose to drink the medication every 2 hrs, i  only had 2 doses, i couldnt bear the pain.

I asked for pain killers, was given pethidine, it did seem to help, it only made me drowsy but still had so much pain. I asked for epidural but my gynae wasnt keen on it, he said it slows labour down. Oh boy the pains  were getting stronger but cervixs seem not to be opening.

My fiance arrived at around 18 hrs, by that time I was in my own world. My gynae came again at 20:00 and i was 3cm dilated, was moving very slowly. I couldnt sleep nor sit, didnt know what to do with myself. At around 23 hrs i was told im 6-8cm dilated, was taken to labour room where i was going to give birth.

I was given gas to ease the pain, it really helped, i just went into another world, could feel the pain but from a distant. Gave birth at 23:40, wont forget that pain, nothing can be compared with it. Looking back now that i have my bundle of joy, it was worth it. Her name is Unarine, meaning God is with us.
