Live street birth!
Amazing footage of woman giving birth in the middle of bustling New York City.
It’s highly unlikely that any expectant mom’s birth plan would include contingency plans for giving birth on a busy city street, but that’s exactly what happened to 39-year-old New York resident Polly McCourt, according to Daily News. Not only that, but a Fox News camera crew happened to catch some of the impromptu action.

Labour came as a surprise to Polly who just couldn’t make it to the hospital in time. She barely made it to the street outside her apartment after sending her son to play in the playground and organising a babysitter for her daughter when she began to deliver her baby.

According to Polly, she had wanted natural birth, and that’s what happened- apparently, the delivery only took an hour and even though she was rushed to hospital following the birth, both mom and daughter are well.

Polly’s husband Cian only made it to the scene three minutes after the birth as he had been stuck in the traffic.

The kindness of strangers and a pretty reward

A sweet detail of the story: Polly had many helpers during the brief delivery process, including a woman named Isobelle who gave Polly the coat off her back as she lay in the road. Polly and Cian have named their new arrival “Ila Isobelle McCourt”. Isobelle had given Cian her telephone number so that she could retrieve her coat, but the piece of paper was lost in the chaos.

Around 40-50 helpers also offered their jerseys during the birth. The family have expressed their extreme gratitude.
