"The next time someone says that men can't have babies, show them this video."

This was the caption Trystan Reese added to a video he shared with his followers on Facebook.

Trystan and his husband, Biff Chaplow, have recently welcomed a healthy little boy after Trystan, a transgender man, carried the couples’ offspring for nine months.

"We are so lucky to have been able to welcome him into our lives and cannot wait to see who he grows up to be," the pair told CNN following the unique birth of baby Leo.

Trystan is now one of only a handful of transgender men in the world who have fallen pregnant and given birth.

He was born female but started taking hormones about 10 years ago.

When he fell pregnant, Trystan – who’s from Portland, Oregon, in the United States – stopped his hormone treatment to carry his and Biff’s first biological child.

The couple has two other adopted kids, Riley and Hailey, who is Biff’s niece and nephew.

Trystan said his desire was never to undergo gender-reassignment surgery.

"I have never wished or wanted to be assigned male at birth and I've never wanted my body to be different.

“So if you can understand that, then it starts to make more sense that it would not seem totally bizarre for me to want to create and carry a baby.

"I'm okay being a man who has a uterus and who has the capacity and capability of carrying a baby."

He and Biff have been doting over their son, describing the moment they welcomed him as ‘a pure moment of bliss’.

Trystan has been pregnant before but unfortunately suffered a miscarriage.

But he has no intention of changing his body, even if it may seem strange to others.

"I feel like my body is awesome and that it is a gift to have been born with the body that I did. I made the necessary changes so that I could keep living in it.”
