Can having too many ultrasounds harm baby?
Can having too many ultrasounds during pregnancy actually harm my baby? I had an ultrasound done at 10 weeks and then one at 17 weeks- these were done with my usual doctor. I've made an appointment with my gynaecologist at 18 weeks pregnant. It's my first gynae appointment since being pregnant. I'm sure that he will do an ultrasound.

Fern Steyn (sonographer) answers:

Ultrasound has been in use for over 50 years, and no negative side effects have been found. It is a great deal diagnostic tool and plays an important role in obstetrics. An ultrasound also helps you bond with your unborn baby. There is no harm in having another scan, but try to keep ity once a month.
