'3 more weeks to go!': A-Bundlely Blessed Diaries #14

"Last birthday as a mother of one."

It's my third week of maternity leave, and I've been keeping myself busy by packing our hospital bags. This has definitely taken my excitement and nervousness to a whole new level! Eek.

I'm double (no triple checking) everything because packing for four people, myself included, is no easy task. I've decided to pack one bag for the babies, with each baby's clothes, vests, socks and beanies in three separate see-through bags.

This way, I can just reach into the baby bag and find what I'm looking for without having to unpack the whole bag.

'A really tough week'

I was pleasantly surprised by the babies' progress during my 30-week gynae visit.

Seeing that the space inside my preggy bump is getting smaller and smaller as the babies grow, I thought they wouldn't be picking up as much weight as they did during the last couple of weeks.

However, these three little munchkins are not letting anything get in their way. Each baby has approximately picked up 500 grams. Baby A now weighs 1.6kg, while Baby B and Baby C each weigh 1.5kg.

I definitely didn't expect these great weights! On another note, the last week has been a really tough one though. I'm uncomfortable, to say the least, exhausted, and with the babies kicking and moving all hours of the day and night, I'm more awake.

'Last birthday as a mother of one'

Although these symptoms were expected, I don't think you're ever prepared for them.  I celebrated my birthday this week (whoop whoop).

My last birthday as a mother of one, and as a family of three.

My special day kicked off with lots of phone calls and birthday messages. But the icing on the cake was when my two best friends, Kachné and Melissa, surprised me with lunch at home. It was so nice to see them and catch-up.

Nicolyn also surprised me with the most beautiful flowers and dinner. Except for all the stares and glares my preggy bump received from fellow restaurant patrons (haha) I enjoyed my special evening, especially the change of scenery.

Guess it was the last one we'll have in a while because I don't see us doing it again anytime soon.

Update on the renovations at our house…

We've decided on an outline and design for our kitchen, and it's being made as we speak! I'm super excited and cannot wait to see the end result.

I'm just not looking forward to emptying the kitchen cupboards in order for the builders to break the wall down for the extension to take place. Bleh.

The windows and the roof will be arriving within the next week. And I think it's still safe to say we're on track to get everything done before the babies come home from the hospital.

In-between the home renovations and the rugby world cup we also have a few busy weekends coming up with Nikolai's karate grading and his school's Christmas concert.

I just hope I'm still mobile and have the energy to attend both.  But wait, let me get back to finishing these hospital bags before I take a quick nap.

Until next time!
