‘Flabby’ mom’s bikini shot goes viral
Instagram user shows her stretch marks off as stripes of pride.

Instagram user and blogger Rachel Hollis has received a round of virtual applause after uploading a holiday snap of herself wearing a bikini. She commented on her picture by way of explanation that:

“I have stretch marks and I wear a bikini. I have a belly that's permanently flabby from carrying three giant babies and I wear a bikini. My belly button is saggy... (which is something I didn't even know was possible before!!) and I wear a bikini. I wear a bikini because I'm proud of this body and every mark on it. Those marks prove that I was blessed enough to carry my babies and that flabby tummy means I worked hard to lose what weight I could. I wear a bikini because the only man who's opinion matters knows what I went through to look this way. That same man says he's never seen anything sexier than my body, marks and all. They aren't scars ladies, they're stripes and you've earned them. Flaunt that body with pride! #HollisHoliday”

Other moms commented on the truthfulness of her post and praised her for not trying to cover up what is part of her body’s story. Some even added their own pictures as comments to her posts.

Her snap got over 375k likes and 45k shares on Facebook as well as loads of attention on Instagram:

We love that she acknowledges what her body went through to produce her lovely kids and that her husband also understands that the changes to her body were necessary in order for him to become a dad.

What do you think?

Some moms are uncomfortable with stretch marks and the effect those have on their self-image, but other moms see them as marks of pride. They can, however, also be a bone of contention to some couples that can’t get over the scarring. Many women seek treatment for stretch marks of one sort or another, but we like Rachel’s approach- acceptance and even celebration.

Would you share images of yourself in a bikini?
