Be safe this holiday
From sunburn to tummy trouble, the holiday season can be tricky for pregnant women.
Whether you're a first time mom or going for number 2, 3 or 4, pregnant women will always have a question about what's safe or not. Welma Lubbe, Parent24's resident midwife and premature baby nurse, answers some of these questions.

My missus burnt her tummy in the sun on Saturday. I was wondering if this could affect our son at all? He has been in her womb for 6 months now.
- Dean

Hallo Dean. No it will only be uncomfortable for mum. The sun is very hot, so it is not good for your skin, so make sure she takes precautions not to burn again. Baby should be fine.

Am I allowed to fly during the first trimester? Because my GP has advised me not to.
- Natasha

Yes, you can, except if you had previous miscarriages and /or are at risk for bleeding or miscarriage.

I have a runny tummy & am 8 months pregnant. I think it's what I ate over the weekend. Is this something I should worry about?
- Mo

No, just make sure that you take lots of fluid to prevent dehydration.  Do not take something to stop the tummy.
