‘Worry Eater’ toy wins top award
Toy which allows kids to zip up their worries named toy of the year.
Kids are benefiting from a clever toy which allows them to seal away their worries and anxieties, and the designers of the toy have been recognised by receiving the auspicious Toy of the Year at the Editor’s Choice Awards in London, reports the Mail Online.

Fretting, worrying, and having nightmares

The Worry Eater is the brainchild of a German children’s TV designer. Since 2008 his toy has allowed kids to draw a picture of the things that worry them and then zip them up inside the Worry Eater’s mouth. This allows parents who find these pictures the opportunity to discuss their children’s anxieties. In this way, children can symbolically express their fears and put them away and parents become more equipped at helping their kids.

It’s easy to forget just how intimidating the world can be: When you’re a small child, you have to deal with so many first times, the outcomes of which you can’t predict. So going to the dentist or doctor, having to sleep somewhere new or meet new people may provoke an anxious state in a child. Sometimes these manifest as nightmares. Kids may not be able to verbalise these fears, but a toy like this provides a tool for them to use.

Perhaps parents can even benefit from having a Worry Eater!

Worry Eaters are also known by their German name, "Sorgenfresser"

Does your child seem to worry too much?
