It seems to be the season for self-published books. We recently wrote about psychologist Carl-Johan Forssen Ehrlin who wrote a book promising to have your little one fall asleep within minutes. The Rabbit Who Wants to Fall Asleep soon was the first self-published book to top the Amazon.com charts, and was snapped up by Penguin Books.

Another self-published book, the brightly illustrated The Big Adventure of the Little Gremlin, follows Gremmy on his quest to find food to eat in winter. Your little reader can decide which way he takes: the Dark Cave, the Big Mountain, the Deep River, or the Enchanted Forest.

Using links within the story, you can jump to the chosen chapter and continue reading. At the end of each chapter, you're presented with another few options, each of which takes you to a new chapter. And so the preschooler helps Gremmy to make decisions... and see what the outcomes are!

The stories are thoughtful and excellent for your child's budding emotional intelligence, told in a humorous voice. The self-published e-book has won 7 awards and an European Nomination for Best Creator of Children’s SF or Fantasy Books.

Bulgarian author Nikola Raykov, himself a father of a little boy, decided to make the e-book available for free, "hoping to make a difference in the lives of children and parents alike". He calls the book a GameTale and he's currently working on the next one: The Even Bigger Adventure of Little Gremlin, and a hard cover copy of the first book, which is funded through KickStarter.
