I'm not Barbie's biggest fan. As a child I was a tom boy, and the one Barbie doll I did have got a terrible haircut and was relegated to the bottom of my shoe cupboard, so that might explain my antipathy toward the whole thing.
As I got older, Barbie just rubbed me the wrong way. She was always relegated to girly jobs and it was all very limited. She didn't look like me, she didn't like to do what I liked to do, she was not my friend.
But Mattel, has finally done something right and I love this new ad encouraging girls to be anything they want. It's cute, it's on point and it's so funny!
It's about time that Mattel brought Barbie into the 21st century, and they must have been feeling the consequences of being stuck in the past with Barbie sales declining since 2011.
