Grab your earplugs: There’s a new, catchy Peppa Pig song raining on Baby Shark’s parade

“Bong bing boo, bing bong bing...”
“Bong bing boo, bing bong bing...”

Seeing anything reminiscent of a shark or hearing an upbeat tune with a “doo doo do-do doo doo” in the chorus, and you can consider me triggered.

I fear I may literally stop traffic the next time Baby Shark plays in the car, purely because I may spontaneously take my hands off the wheel, extend both my arms and in a fast, repetitive motion, bring them together.

Great. I’m a danger to myself and everyone around me, all because I can’t resist an up-tempo, repetitive melody with plosive sounds. Will I – will we – ever truly move on from and get over the Billboard chart topper?

Well, according to an article published by Billboard this month, everyone’s favourite, Peppa Pig, is celebrating her 15-year anniversary this year with a 16-track playlist appropriately titled, My First Album.

"Music has always been central to the appeal of the show around the world, so we're delighted to share these new musical arrangements with Peppa's many fans during the brand's anniversary year. We hope it will become the perfect soundtrack for families to enjoy at home, on the go and at party celebrations," said global brand manager, Rebecca Harvey, of eOne – the production company that developed Peppa Pig.

Romper claims the new music will edge out songs like Baby Shark, and with the release of the first single off the album, “Bing Bong Zoo”, we kind of get why. It’s got all the tropes that made Baby Shark so catchy – check it out for yourself (at your own risk).

What do you think?

We’re of the opinion that your kids will love it. Give it a week or two, and so will you.

Followed shortly, of course, by your complete and total all-consuming hate for anything sounding remotely close to “bong bing boo, bing bong bing...”

“...BING BONG BINGLY BUNGLY BOO!”
