Since my son is turning three soon we've been on the hunt for a really special present for him. He loves trucks, trains, cars, actually anything that moves. He also likes blocks and books.
I will often change the main character in a book's name to his so that it's more relatable to him. Last week we got a book from the library about playing gently because this is not a skill he has quite mastered. I really wanted this lesson to resonate with him so I used his name instead of the book character.
As I was browsing Facebook the other day I came across a website that made personalised books with your child's name in it. So I went down the Personalised Children's Book rabbit hole and here's what I found.
Lost My Name
This book is about a child who's lost there name and goes on a big adventure to find it. You can choose one for either a boy or girl and customise what the character looks like. There are only 3 characters to choose from so while the child in the book won't be the spitting image of your child, they will look pretty similar.
You can also choose what creature will represent each letter of your child's name. I like this one a lot, it's beautifully drawn and it's a great way to teach your child how to spell their name.
The book costs £20 but the shipping worldwide is free so it's not too badly priced at around R350.
Check out the Lost My Name website for more details.
Brown Cow Books
Newcomer, Brown Cow Book is a proudly South African product (one of my favourite things). Their tagline is "A bit of quirk. A dollop of adventure. A lot of fun... starring your little one". What makes this one stand out is that the whole story is constructed around the things your child loves. You send them your child's age, gender, things such as their favourite animal, toy, hobby, colour, food or any other special thing you want included. So it's really personalised to your child.
The book costs R295 including couriered postage. Check out the website and you can place your order at orders@browncowbooks.co.za.
