Before I tell you what I think of the new caterpillar stretch Pampers, let me confess I am a Pampers mum. When we started using disposable nappies with our first son, more than four years ago, we tried every brand on the market. But we kept on coming back to Pampers. Sure, they were definitely not the cheapest but we never had one leaking nappy (which is more than can be said for other disposable nappies). So when I was asked to review the new Pampers with my second son, aged seven months, I was delighted. I've been using Pampers with him anyway and he was just ready to move from size 3 to size 4 (the trial nappies were size 4).

I really like the new caterpillar stretch waist. My baby is a chunky chap and the "old" Pampers were starting to fit too tightly around his chubby thighs and Buddha boep. The stretch ones don't leave any red marks. Some friends have complained that the new ones are gappy and leak - not my experience - however, their babies are much slimmer than mine so that might be the issue. Maybe Pampers should consider having two ranges: one with caterpillar stretch for chubby babies and the 'old" one for skinnier babies.

We don’t like
My one complaint is with the white rectangle on the pull tab. I'm on my second Jumbo pack of the new stretch nappies and in each bag of 70 I've had two nappies where the white rectangle has pulled off completely rendering the nappy useless. Two out of seventy isn't a lot but I never had any wastage with the old Pampers and there shouldn't be any now. At R3 per nappy that's not acceptable in these tough economic times.

Which nappy brand do you think is the best?
