An adopted psychiatrist talks about the experience and emotions of the adoption process for parents and children.

Name of book:
What to Expect When You’re Adopting by Dr Ian Palmer (Vermilion)

Where can I get it?

We like
The psychological aspects are delved into in some detail, helping parents to make decisions based on a realistic view of what could happen.  Dr Palmer writes with passion and genuine empathy about the many aspect of becoming a family through adoption, from bonding to the practical adapting of a childless life to one with a child in it.

We don’t like
While most of the book is applicable to any potential adoption, there are some things that are irrelevant because he is writing in the United Kingdom.
