Did you know the Eastern Cape is home to Africa's highest bridge bungee jump?

Parent24 is answering kids curious questions in a new 'Did you know?' series, and in this installment we're answering the question: 

Did you know the Eastern Cape is home to Africa's highest bridge bungee jump? 

Imagine being tied at the feet with a long elastic cord, and jumping off a bridge 216 metres from the ground, and you'll get an idea of what it's like to take on Africa's highest bridge bungee jump. 

If you're wondering how high that is, think the 50 story skyscraper in Johannesburg, the Carlton Centre which stands at 223m, just 7 metres higher than the bridge.

The Bloukrans River Bridge is situated in Tsitsikamma, Eastern Cape and has been operated by Face Adrenalin commercially since 1997.

In order to get out to the bungee jump point, jumpers are sent out on a zip-line from the bank to the arch.

All that's left to do from there is to forget your fears and jump! 

Successful bungee jumpers are awarded a memorable diploma 'For Bravery' and are given a video recording of their jump.

Bloukrans jumpers have even been entered into the Guinness Book of World Records, including South African Bill Boshoff who performed 101 bungee jumps in 24 hours in 2002.

The company boasts 22 years of zero accidents, and children 14 years and older are allowed to make the jump but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
