FunDza strives to get South African teens and young adults reading, writing and learning, and does so by offering free books and resources via their mobi site, to encourage a love of reading.

Their fundza mobi platform reaches around 20,000 regular and dedicated users monthly.

"Reading books and stories influences one's choices, it gives value to lives, it enhances critical and creative thinking and encourages personal development. Reading and writing is the fundamental pillar of education. Education is the foundation of a healthy, stable, growth-oriented society," their site reads.

FunDza believes that all South Africans should have the opportunity to fall in love with reading with all its benefits.

"To read for pleasure, and to make it something you want to do every day, you need to LOVE what you’re reading, and you need to be able to access great content, easily," the site states.

Examples of their engaging stories include:

Unrequited Love

Raymond is a schoolboy who loves Portia. But Portia doesn’t know. So Raymond goes on a campaign to win her heart... but what will he lose in the process?

Shamed

Lamulile has made one mistake, and now it looks as if she’ll be paying for it for the rest of her life. Can she overcome the shame? Who will support her through this terrible time?

Proud to be me

S’bu is at a new school in town. He is teased for being a country boy, and becomes ashamed of where he comes from. But then his brother intervenes, and S’bu has to decide what he really stands for.
