Is your teen pregnant?
Teen pregnancy is a real fear for parents today. Here's how to deal with it.
Teen pregnancy is a real and major concern of lots of parents today. The rate of teenage pregnancy has gone up and is mostly due to them not getting enough education on sex. Parents should begin to educate their kids from an early age and also need to understand the reasons that their teen will want to have sex. Sit down with your teen and ask her these 14 questions to help her make the decision to abstain. Because at the end of the day all you can do is advise and hope your child makes a wise choice.

Tracy Engelbrecht, a Parent24 columnist, was a teen mom and has this to say about it: "No denial. It won’t go away. This is no time for “coulda-woulda-shoulda”.  The  consequences of this decision will stay with you forever. It’s your responsibility alone. Nobody else can or should choose for you, and you cannot let them. It ain’t for wussies. Get over yourself and do what needs to be done".

With a loving, support system you can help your teen through this difficult time. She is probably scared to even tell you and realises her life is going to change drastically. And she may not be ready for it, but now is not the time to play the blame game or condemn her, she needs your love.

What about the dad?

Surely the guy you got your daughter pregnant ought to take some responsibilty too? But he is more than likely scared, shocked and embarrassed. He also just needs a little TLC to fill his role as a father-to-be.

Has your teen been pregnant? How has your family dealt with it?
