Kaizer Chiefs’ dire straits has given them deep reflection of the coaching decisions that they have made in recent times, inclusive of how they blundered in the issue of Nasreddine Nabi’s appointment.

Nabi went into talks with Chiefs prior to the appointment of Molefi Ntseki as the man to take over from Arthur Zwane in the position of head coach.

What is known is that Chiefs did talk to Nabi – as was confirmed by the 58-year-old – but the proposed deal fell through due to support staff-related differences with Amakhosi.

This then paved the way for the Tunisian-Belgian to take over at Moroccan champions ASFAR (FAR Rabat).

With three games left to play, Nabi has already secured a CAF Champions League spot for next season and is now in a race for the league title with Josef Zinnbauer and Fadlu Davids’ Raja Casablanca.

FAR Rabat have 64 points (27 games), while Raja sit on 61 (26 games).

Nabi will need not look over his shoulder to be crowned champion if he wins all the three remaining league games.

The Botola league has been put on hold with the Cup taking precedence and this has seen Nabi’s team reach the quarter-finals after a 2-1 win over Renaissance Club Athletic Zemamra on Wednesday night.

They will now play Olympique Dcheira next Wednesday.

This means another double remains in sight for the third year after enjoying the same success with Young Africans in Tanzania.

All this comes while still weighing up their options about who the Soweto giants will bring as the new head coach next season.

Amakhosi have been engaged in weighing up the options presented to them after their talks with Brazilian coach Alexandre Gallo yielded no success.

Chiefs have been dismal again this season with their trophy drought having moved to nine years and currently have Cavin Johnson as interim coach.
