From a large silver ball to a rock filled with golden stones, an exhibition in the desert of AlUla, Saudi Arabia, offers a surreal artistic experience with creators from the country and beyond.

Desert X AlUla returned for its third edition this year and set out to put "regional and international artists in dialogue with the nature and rich history of AlUla", according to the exhibition's catalogue.

The organisation Desert X was founded in California and produces international contemporary art exhibitions in desert locations that feature site-specific installations.
